Please read the program notes on the following screens if you areusing THE INTERSTATE TRAVELER for the first time. ----------------------- PROGRAM NOTES --------------------------- [1] Lowercase key-ins are converted to uppercase. [2a] Cities are identified with four character codes. The first two characters identify the state (postal codes) and the second two the city. If the city name is one word, the first two letters of the name are used. If the city name is two or more words, the first letters of the first two words are used. For example: TXDA is Dallas, Texas CASF is San Francisco, California [2b] Highway junctions are identified with a similar code, except the last two characters identify with the letter 'J' followed by a number. If more than 10 junctions exist in a state, the last two characters will be numbers. For example: FLJ4 is the fourth junction in Florida IL13 is the thirteenth junction in Illinois [2c] National parks and monuments are also identified with four character codes. The first two identify the name of the park or monument and the last two characters are either 'NP' or 'NM'. For example: GCNP is Grand Canyon National Park MRNM is Mount Rushmore National Monument [3] Keyboard users: On horizontal and vertical menus, use the arrow keys to move the selector bar and the ENTER key to make the selection. Mouse users: On horizontal and vertical menus, use the LEFT button to move the selector bar and the RIGHT button to make the selection. [4] Press ESCAPE whenever a menu is displayed to return to the operating system [5] Only those cities indicated on the map with dark red disks have individual city maps. State capitals are outlined with white circles. --------------------- Create a New Trip File -------------------- Select this option to start a new trip. The trip file can be saved and named before leaving the program. ----------------------- Load a Trip File ------------------------ Select this option to load an existing trip file into the program. A list of .TRP file names will be displayed to choose from. ----------------------- Browse a Trip File ---------------------- Select this option to display the partial contents of a trip file. A list of file names will be displayed. ----------------------- Delete a Trip File ---------------------- Select this option to delete an existing trip file. A list of .TRP file names will be displayed to choose from. ----------------------- Rename a Trip File ---------------------- Select this option to change the name of an existing trip file. A list of .TRP file names will be displayed to choose from. ---------------------- Delete Added Features -------------------- Select this option to delete a city, junction, or highway you added to the map. The area within the frame can then be magnified to fill the map screen area. In this view, cities, highways, and features are identified. ----------------------- Display CITY Map ----------------------- Select this option to display the map of a major U.S. city, including major highways, features (lakes, rivers, etc.), selected points of interest, and population and weather information. --------------------- Options (Screen print) -------------------- Select this option to make a hardcopy of the map shown on the screen. ----------------------------- Quit ------------------------------ Select this option to return to the operating system. --------------------------- Zoom-out ---------------------------- Select this option to return to the display of the full US map with the zoom frame ready to be moved to a new location. ---------------- Add Features (City or junction) ---------------- Select this option to graphically add cities or junctions to the maps. Cities and junctions should be added first, followed by by the connecting highways. Added features can be erased and re-entered, if needed. Indicate an origin city, intermediate cities & junctions, and your destination.
